Our Story

EQOL began in 2024, founded by the experiences of Alan Neilson, both a dedicated father and a visionary entrepreneur. As Alan watched his son, who is autistic, and other neurodiverse young adults face hurdles in finding employment and navigating social connections, he realised that existing support systems were falling short.

In the current adult social care landscape, accessing services and support is a daunting task - especially as the available information is fragmented and difficult to navigate. Many neurodiverse adults and their caregivers struggle to understand what services are available, how to access them, and what they are entitled to.

Determined to make a difference, Alan embarked on a mission to overhaul the support available to simplify processes by providing clear guidance and direct links to the services and activities that best meet individual needs. Recognising the need for a personalised approach, addressing every facet of life from work to leisure, was essential for true progress.

Alan's passion for equality and inclusion, forged through his experiences as also an explorer and mountaineer, fuels EQOL's commitment to providing holistic support. Just as climbing the highest mountains requires the greatest determination and resilience, EQOL aims to empower it’s neurodiverse members to conquer their own challenges and reach new heights of personal achievement.

Together, we climb towards a future where everyone, regardless of their neurotype, can thrive.
